Ships to Lakshadweep

Passenger ships connect the mainland and the islands, but an old vessel list is not a sailing schedule. Check the official system for your exact date, island and passenger category.

Start with the correct type of booking

Passenger ticket

This is transport on a notified sector and date. Confirm the boarding point, destination, class, reporting instructions and whether the trip fits the approved permit.

Tourism package

A ship-based tourism package can include accommodation, daytime island visits, meals and activities. It should not be treated as the same product as a passenger ticket.

What the Administration currently publishes

The How to Reach page identifies Kochi as the tourism gateway and describes passenger-ship travel to the islands. It gives 14 to 18 hours as a general passage range depending on the island. This is not a promise for a particular sailing.

Official pages are not fully aligned on the fleet. The How to Reach page lists seven vessels, while the Port, Shipping and Aviation page says the Administration currently owns five all-weather passenger ships. This page therefore does not reproduce a fixed fleet list.

Ticketing sources

The How to Reach page links the Lakshadweep Port portal for ship tickets. The Administration's current ticket-counter directory also links the Lakshadweep passenger reservation website and publishes counter contacts for Kochi, island offices and other locations.

Because official pages point to more than one booking address, begin from a current Lakshadweep Administration page. Do not pay through a link copied from an old blog or message.

Current Samudram package notice

SPORTS posted a notice dated 18 August 2026 saying the Samudram package will not be available until further directions because of ongoing ship maintenance and incomplete dry-docking. This notice applies to the tourism package, not every passenger ticket. Read the current Samudram status guide and recheck the official portal before planning connected travel.

Before buying a passenger ticket

  • Confirm the mainland departure point.
  • Confirm the destination island and date.
  • Check the vessel and travel class shown on the ticket.
  • Match passenger names with identity documents.
  • Check baggage and reporting instructions.
  • Ensure the permit covers the destination and travel period.
  • Confirm onward accommodation and local transfer.
  • Keep time for the published reporting requirement.
  • Ask what happens if the sailing changes.
  • Save the ticket and contacts offline.

Check the official sources again before travel. This page deliberately does not publish a daily schedule, fare table or monthly frequency because those details require live operational data. For the complete trip, also read the route guide and permit guide.

Ship planning guides

Use the guide that matches the decision you are making. Each page separates stable official guidance from sailing details that must be checked for your own date.
