The Lakshadweep cruise, without the brochure fog

Search “Lakshadweep cruise” and two very different products surface under the same phrase. One is a private cruise ship run by Cordelia Cruises. The other is Samudram, the government tourism package, currently suspended. Neither is the ordinary passenger ship service, which is transport rather than a holiday product. This guide separates the three and links the official booking channel for each.

What Cordelia lists for Lakshadweep

The operator’s sailing list showed six Lakshadweep departures when checked on 17 September 2026, all on the ship Empress:

Two details matter for planning. Every listed Lakshadweep sailing starts in Kochi, and the island call is Agatti or Kavaratti depending on the format. Treat this table as a dated snapshot: the operator changes routes by season, and the live list on its site is the version that counts.

Cordelia’s destination page names Agatti as its port of call and describes shore excursions built around a local cultural performance plus a choice of two water sports from snorkelling, kayaking, banana boat and glass-bottom boat. One excursion variant adds a beginner scuba dive with instructors described as PADI-certified. Meals and entertainment are part of the onboard product.

The Mumbai to Lakshadweep cruise question

Most cruise searches assume a Mumbai departure. Older blogs and videos describe Mumbai to Lakshadweep sailings from earlier seasons, which keeps the idea alive. The current list tells a different story: Lakshadweep departures are from Kochi, and one format ends in Mumbai rather than starting there.

What it costs

Cordelia does not publish a flat tariff on its listing pages. The fare appears when you pick a sailing and cabin in its booking flow, and it moves with date, cabin type and occupancy. This guide does not repeat figures from reseller sites.

A caution worth stating plainly: at least one private agent site currently advertises the government Samudram cruise at ₹44,625 per person even though the official SPORTS portal carries a suspension notice. The government option: Samudram

Samudram is the Administration’s five-day ship-based package on MV Kavaratti, with nights onboard and daytime island visits. The SPORTS notice dated 18 August 2026 says the package will not be available until further directions because of ship maintenance and incomplete dry-docking, and that notice was still displayed on 17 September 2026.

A cruise call is a day visit. If the point of the trip is waking up on an island, a cruise alone does not do that. Pair it with a confirmed stay, or choose a stay-based plan from the start.

Permits and booking checks

• Lakshadweep requires an entry permit for visitors, apart from the exemptions stated on the ePermit portal. Ask the cruise line in writing whether the permit is arranged with your booking or must be obtained separately, and read the entry permit guide before paying.
• Confirm in writing: the sailing date, embarkation port and reporting time, cabin category, what the fare includes, cancellation terms, and what is organised ashore during the island call.
• Book on the operator’s own site or the official government portals. Sites with similar names are private agents, whatever their search ranking.
