The checklist that keeps the booking chain intact
A booking is only as strong as its weakest link. Confirm the island, complete route and stay before treating the permit or itinerary as settled.

A checklist cannot make an unconfirmed route bookable. Recheck permits, transport, stay, supplier terms and official contacts close to departure.

A Lakshadweep checklist works only when it follows the booking chain. Start with the island and complete return route, then connect the stay, permit and practical arrangements. Do not begin with a generic packing list.

1. Fix the island and complete return route
Write down every sector from home to the island and back. For each sector, record the carrier or provider, date, booking status and connection time.
The Administration’s How to Reach page describes access by air and passenger ship. It is not a live schedule. Use the how-to-reach guide to identify the official booking source for each sector.
Do not assume that arriving at Agatti completes a trip to another island. Obtain the onward and return transfer in writing.
2. Confirm the stay against the route
Record the property, island, check-in and check-out dates, room type and the name of the entity taking payment. Ask the property or package provider to confirm:
- whether the room is held for the named travellers;
- the meal arrangement;
- pickup and drop responsibility;
- payments still due;
- participant or child rules that affect the booking;
- cancellation terms for every connected service.
Use the stays guide to keep accommodation evidence separate from an old listing or search-result snippet.
3. Complete the permit and identity check
The Administration says entry is restricted and links to the ePermit portal. Follow the portal’s current fields and instructions rather than copying a document list from an old article.
The public portal explicitly says foreign tourists need a valid passport and visa for India. It does not state that an Indian tourist must have a passport, and it does not expose the complete Indian upload list before sign-in. Indian applicants should follow the current portal prompts and confirm the identity document required by every carrier, stay or package provider.
Check that the issued permit matches the traveller names, dates and planned islands. If the route changes, ask the issuing authority whether the permit must change too.
The entry-permit guide explains fees, passport wording, PCC and sponsorship. Foreign visitors should also read the foreign-national permit guide.
4. Build the payment sheet
List what is already paid and what remains due for transport, stay, transfer, meals and activities. For each unpaid item, ask which payment methods are accepted at the place and time of payment.
Do not use a fixed cash-per-day rule. The official bank directory does not establish ATM uptime, cash availability, card acceptance or UPI reliability. Use the money and ATM guide to build the amount from actual dues.
5. Prepare the offline travel folder
Keep accessible copies of:
- the issued permit;
- the identity document requested for each booking;
- transport tickets and booking references;
- stay and transfer confirmations;
- payment receipts and balances due;
- provider cancellation terms;
- important health information and prescriptions relevant to the traveller;
- current official contact-directory pages.
Ask carriers and providers whether they require originals, printed copies or a specific format. This page does not replace their document rules.
6. Confirm communication and assistance
Ask the stay what mobile networks and guest internet worked recently at the exact property. Infrastructure announcements do not prove a particular room has usable service. The Lakshadweep mobile-network guide separates current coverage checks from older rollout announcements.
If a traveller needs wheelchair, boarding, room, bathroom, medicine-storage or another form of assistance, describe the exact need to every provider. The limited-mobility guide maps that chain.
7. Pack from published requirements
SPORTS travel tips advise travellers to confirm the permit and tour and carry personal medicines and common personal-use items. Use the packing guide for a source-led list, then add only the equipment and clothing required by the booked providers.
Check the baggage allowance on each actual ticket. Do not rely on a site-wide airline allowance because the carrier, aircraft and fare can change.
8. Save current emergency sources
The Administration publishes hospital and disaster-management directories. Save the live pages rather than copying an old number into a note that will never be refreshed.
The emergency contacts guide shows what to record for the island, property and journey.
Final reconfirmation
Close to departure, recheck the permit, every transport sector, stay, transfer, payment due and provider contact. If one link is still assumed, the itinerary is not fully confirmed.
Questions
What should I confirm first for a Lakshadweep trip?
Confirm the island, accommodation and complete return route before treating the itinerary as bookable. The permit must match the trip you finally arrange.
Do Indian tourists need a passport for Lakshadweep?
The public ePermit page explicitly requires a valid passport and visa for foreign tourists. It does not state that an Indian tourist must have a passport, and it does not publish the complete Indian upload list before sign-in. Follow the portal prompts and confirm the identity document required by each carrier or provider.
Should I print the Lakshadweep permit?
SPORTS advises travellers to make sure the entry permit and tour are confirmed before departure. Keep the issued permit accessible offline and ask each carrier or provider whether a printed copy is required.
How much cash should I carry?
There is no source-backed universal amount. List every payment due on the island, ask which payment methods are accepted, then choose a personal contingency amount.
What should I save offline?
Keep the permit, identity document requested by each provider, tickets, stay confirmation, transfer contacts, payment records, relevant medical information and current official emergency-directory links.
