Lakshadweep for Non-Swimmers: Plan Without Assumptions

Compare Lakshadweep activity formats when you cannot swim, and confirm water entry, participation, supervision and cancellation rules.

Reconfirm before booking

Beginner, lagoon and family-friendly are not substitutes for a provider's participation decision. Disclose that you cannot swim before booking.

On this page

You can plan a Lakshadweep trip without building it around swimming. The key is to separate activities that may keep you onboard from those that require water entry, then ask the provider to decide suitability using the exact product and traveller information.

Do not rely on labels

Words such as beginner, shallow lagoon or family-friendly do not establish that a non-swimmer can participate. They also do not tell you whether the provider requires a swimming test, water entry or independent movement in the water.

Tell the provider clearly: “I cannot swim.” Ask for a written answer before paying.

This table is a question guide, not a suitability rating.

Scuba requires product-specific evidence

The SPORTS homepage currently says swimming skills and a doctor’s fitness certificate are mandatory for its scuba-diving course, with a minimum age of 14. A different scuba product may publish different requirements, but do not infer them.

Ask the provider to name the product, training organisation, participation rule and medical form. If the provider cannot give a clear answer before payment, do not treat scuba as confirmed.

Use the scuba-versus-snorkelling guide to compare the booking evidence required for each.

Snorkelling also needs confirmation

The Administration lists snorkelling among tourism activities, but it does not publish a universal non-swimmer rule. Ask:

  • Must the participant swim independently?
  • Where does water entry occur?
  • Is a flotation device part of the product?
  • How close is the assigned guide?
  • Can the provider refuse participation on the day?
  • What refund or replacement applies?

Do not accept a wildlife or reef promise instead of these answers.

Ask what stays onboard

Official pages mention glass-bottom boats. Before treating one as a non-swimmer option, confirm that the exact trip keeps the passenger onboard and ask how boarding works.

The glass-bottom boat guide removes old age and accessibility guarantees and provides a current confirmation list.

Build a trip that works without the activity

Choose the route, island and accommodation before optional water sports. The holiday should remain workable if the provider says no, the traveller changes their mind or operating conditions prevent an activity.

The things-to-do guide helps identify other confirmed parts of the itinerary without claiming that every product is available.

Before paying

Save written confirmation of:

  • the traveller’s disclosed swimming ability;
  • exact activity and provider;
  • water-entry requirement;
  • participant rule;
  • equipment and supervision;
  • total price;
  • refusal, cancellation and replacement terms.

Do not allow a package total to hide an inclusion that the traveller may not be allowed or willing to use.

Questions

Can non-swimmers visit Lakshadweep?

A Lakshadweep trip does not have to depend on entering the water. Choose the route and stay first, then confirm each activity's participation requirements directly.

Can a non-swimmer go scuba diving?

Do not assume this. SPORTS currently requires swimming skills for its scuba-diving course. Ask the exact provider which product is offered and who is eligible.

Is snorkelling suitable for non-swimmers?

The official sources reviewed do not publish one universal answer. Disclose that you cannot swim and ask about water entry, flotation, supervision and the provider's participation decision.

Is a glass-bottom boat an alternative?

Official sources describe glass-bottom boats, but the trip and boarding arrangement can vary. Ask whether the booked product keeps passengers onboard and what access is required.
